All commands should be sent in the body of the message - NOT in the subject. CONFIGURING A MAILINGLIST: To configure a list, first retrieve the lists configuration file by sending a plain text email (NOT HTML-formatted!) to majordomo@yourdomain.com with the following in the body of the message: config list-name list-password where: - list-name is the name of your mailing list - list-password is the maintenance password you provided when you created the list. Note: Initial password: On some servers, the initial password will be set to list-name.admin (where list-name is the name of the mailinglist, for example: "customers.admin" if you created a "customers" mailinglist) - even if you entered another password during the setup. If the real password doesn't work, use list-name.admin instead. AN EXAMPLE: Retrieving the current config ----------------- If you created a mailinglist called "mylist" with admin password "drowssap" and your domain was "example.com" you'd send a plain text email (NOT HTML-formatted!) to majordomo@example.com with this in the body: config mylist drowssap ----------------- Majordomo will reply with the configuration file for the list. The configuration file is rather self explanatory and has many comments explaining the various commands. CHANGING THE CURRENT CONFIG Copy the contents of the email to your favorite text editor and make your configuration changes. Compose a new email to majordomo@yourdomain.com with the following in the body of the message: newconfig list-name list-password and paste the edited configuration text after the command. After you send the email, Majordomo will reply with the results. If the configuration change was successful, you should receive a message similar to this: >>>> newconfig list-name list-password New config for list list-name accepted. otherwise the reply will specify why the command failed. If the command fails, check to make sure your email client is sending email as plain text (not html) and that it is not automatically wrapping the contents of the email.

<date>12.07.2009, 21:03</date>
</phpmyfaq> |
