SSH and Telnet: SSH and Telnet introduction
Both SSH and Telnet are methods to connect to the server as if you were sitting right in front of a console attached to the server. The login is textbased and similar to a DOS mode login on a windows machine.

SSH is using encrypted traffic which makes it much more secure than Telnet.
Chances are that we will disable Telnet from the server in the future as there really aren't any good arguments to use it instead of SSH.
