Domains: What is "Domain Locking"?
|
The international rules for domain names were changed in 2004.
Before that, a domain owner had to verify an email to authorize changes to a domain.
Unfortunately many domains were stuck, cause the domain owners did not have access to the admin email.
Now, anyone can claim ownership of a domain name, if the owner doesn't respond to the email within a week.
So an evil mind could request a change of your unlocked domain(s) - and hope you miss the email.
In order to prevent this you can Lock the domain - a locked domain can't be changed as long as it is locked.
