FTP - File Transfers: Dreamweaver MX
|
You can upload files to the server using Dreamweaver.
The following is a description of the steps used with Dreamweaver MX:
1: Select: Site ->New Site
This will put you in the "Advanced" window with "Local Info" open.
2: Enter these values:
--------------------------------
Site name:
Any name you chose, though to keep things straight, it's always best to give it a name corresponding with the site you want to manage.
Local root folder:
Where your files are stored on your computer.
DW usually fills this in for you and makes the directory.
--------------------------------
3: Select "Remote Info" in the left menu.
This will give you a dropdown menu.
4: Select "FTP", and enter these values:
--------------------------------
Access: FTP
FTP host: yourdomain.com
(replace "yourdomain.com" with your domain)
Host directory: mainwebsite_html
(type this exactly, so that your files go into the right directory)
Login: admin@yourdomain.com
(replace "yourdomain.com" with your domain)
Password: main password to your account
Use passive FTP: check this box
No other boxes need to be checked for the connection to work.
--------------------------------
5: Click "OK"
Your connection is now defined.
6: Click "Files" on the menu to the far right.
7: Click the "Connect to remote host" icon
(The icon looks like two plugs coming together)
